One of our customers runs his catering kitchen 7 km from the Sydney CBD. Before Easy Flow Catering, he'd modelled the cost of every delivery outside a 10 km zone — extra fuel, extra driver time, and the flow-on cost of a driver stuck in city traffic while his kitchen backed up on the next order. Let's say you've set your delivery zone to a 10 km radius from your kitchen in Alexandria, Sydney. A customer in Newtown (5 km away) starts an order, they enter their delivery address, the system checks it against your zone, and the order flows through normally.
A different customer in Cronulla (22 km away) tries the same thing. As soon as they enter their address, they see a banner: “Sorry — Cronulla is outside our delivery zone. We currently deliver within 10 km of Alexandria.” Their order stops there. You never see it, your kitchen never plans for it, and the customer knows immediately instead of finding out after they've already placed an order.
